文章的新颖性是指一篇文章超越了传统和常规具有与众不同的特征。在考试中，平淡的作文得分肯定不高；新颖的文章会给人以好感，从而得到同档次中最高的分数。一、新颖性的具体体现为体现文章的新颖性，我们要从新颖的词、句型和文章的内涵、立意上下功夫。1. 用新颖的动词。使用新颖的动词会使表达更为生动、形象。如：（1）Nowadays， there are many newly-built buildings in my hometown. 可改为：Nowadays， many newly-built buildings have mushroomed in my hometown.（2）At present， plenty of poor quality products appear on the market. 可改为：At present， poor quality products flood on the market.（3）There was a terrible earthquake in Wenchuan of Sichuan Province on May 12th， 2008. 可改为：A terrible earthquake hit Wenchuan of Sichuan Province on May 12th， 2008.2. 用新颖的副词。使用某些短语或句型相应的副词。如：（1） There is no doubt that computers play an important role in our daily life. 可改为：Undoubtedly， computers play an important role in our daily life.（2） Doing sports can get us relaxed. In addition， it can build up our body.可改为：Doing sports can get us relaxed. Additionally， it can build up our body.3. 用新颖的形容词。运用新颖的形容词，表达更高级。如：（1）Nowadays， more and more Chinese people study abroad. 可改为：Nowadays， the increasing number of Chinese people study abroad.（2）As the competition is increasingly fierce， many students are under great pressure. 可改为：As the competition is increasingly severe， numerous students are under high academic pressure.4. 用新颖的名词。用更高级的名词凸显表达的新颖性。如：（1） Most people approve of the idea that...可改为：The majority of the people approve of the idea that...（2） Senior 3 students make great efforts to improve their study. 可改为：Senior 3 students make great efforts to improve their academic performance.5. 用新颖的介词。使用恰当的介词短语可使文章的语言更加简洁。如：（1）It’s hard for me to describe the joy with words. 可改为：My joy is beyond words.（2）If we don’t have passion for English， we will easily lose heart when we are faced with difficulty. 可改为：Without passion for English， we will easily lose heart when we are faced with difficulty.6. 利用词性转换。有时利用词性转换，会更能抓住读者的眼球，留下更深刻的印象。如：（1） The newly-built Science and Technology Museum is the symbol of the local culture. 可改为：The newly-built Science and Technology Museum symbolizes the local culture.（2）Mary respects her parents very much. 可改为：Mary shows great respect for his parents.（3）I hope that all the citizens are involved in the campaign. 可改为：I express my hope that all the citizens are involved in the campaign.（4）The expert suggests that the authority should take some effective measures to protect the environment. 可改为：The expert puts forward the suggestion that the authority should take some effective measures to protect the environment. 7. 用新颖的短语。用新颖的短语代替相应的单词或短语，表达更高级，更有感染力。如：（1）The influence of a good teacher is important. 可改为：The influence of a good teacher is of great significance.（2）Parents pay great attention to their children’s education. 可改为：Parents attach great importance to their children’s education.8. 用新颖的句型。用强调句和倒装句增强文章的气势和感染力。如：（1） It is very difficult for me to learn English， 可改为：I have great difficulty in learning English.（2） With Mr Chen’s unselfish help， I made significant progress in English. 可改为：It was with Mr Chen’s unselfish help that I made significant progress in English.（3）People realized the importance of education when they failed to find jobs due to the lack of diploma. 可改为：Only when they failed to find jobs due to the lack of diploma did people realize the importance of education.9. 用新颖从句。同位语从句和主语从句是学生少用的从句，使用这两种从句会显新颖性。如：（1）He believes that one is never too old to challenge himself. 可改为：He holds the belief that one is never too old to challenge himself.（2）People hope that the government should make laws to guarantee the animals’ rights. 可改为：It is hoped that the government should make laws to guarantee the animals’ rights.10. 用增加文章内涵的表达。比喻句和谚语增加文章的内涵，提高文章的深度和高度。如：（1）When we experience the life we will know what it really means. 可改为：Life is just like a box of chocolate， and we won’t know what’s in the box until we open it.（2）A good teacher teaches us knowledge and truth of life. 可改为：A good teacher is just like a valuable book， from which we can obtain knowledge and truth of life.（3）...I failed many times， but I didn’t lose heart and eventually realized my dream.
